Give Your Brain and Mind a Workout with Some Fun Brain Teasers
83With the start of a New Year comes the dreaded New Year resolution; eat less and exercise more. But how often do we think to exercise our brain? Giving your brain a workout with brain teasers is a whole lot more fun than physical exercise, don’t you think? So why not start your New Year with some fun brain teasers to help your brain work better, improve your memory, have greater concentration, better visual perception, mental imagery, improved reasoning and cognitive skills. Doing brain teasers are also good to keep your brain young, make you more alert, and help you to live your life more consciously?
Have you heard that the human brain loves surprises, puzzles, and challenges. That is why brain teasers can draw us in and play tricks on us, and we love it! My favorite brain teasers are the 3D stereogram eyetricks and the optical illusions. When I was a young girl I got books out from the library and practiced looking at these optical illusions alot. It is a good way to quiet your mind. They are so cool to see.
An optical illusion is any illusion that deceives the human visual system into perceiving something that is not present or incorrectly perceiving what is present.
Below are some links to give your brain a workout with some fun brain teasers and optical illusions that will feed your brain and jog your mind. Good health starts with your brain. It is one of the most vital body organs, and it needs your care and maintenance but if you’re determined to start your New Year with physical exercise, good for you, because, well that is good for the brain, too! Have fun and enjoy!
How-To View A 3-D Image
Focus your eyes near the top center of the picture as though you are looking through the image into the distance and look even further beyond the wall behind your computer. Once you perceive the hidden image and depth, you can look around the entire 3-D image. The longer you look, the clearer the illusion becomes. The farther away you are to the image, the deeper it becomes. Try it! If you still can't see the image, try moving your chair back even further. It's pretty cool to look at these 3-D images.
Here is another helpful hint if you still cannot see the 3-D image, STOP thinking! Yes, that's right. If you are thinking about doing it right then you will not be able to see the 3-D image. Practice, Practice, Practice. Good Luck!

Thanks for the tips. I came closer to seeing the images than I ever have in the past. I was close but no cigar. I like how you've sort of brought these fun things back to life, don't see them as much these days.
That's good

Great Hub that was fun! Thanks
I love those 3D magic eye pictures. It used to be hard to get them to work on the old style CRT computer monitors. But just tried them on an LCD and they work as good as a printed version.

lol great karma! TOO COOL!
He Dottie! Great article! You seem such an upbeat person! Kinda cool seeing my sister's ads for her books on your hub! lol Merry Xmas!
Hi Dottie! Thanks for the message. That will not stop me from watching ChittyChittyBangBang! :)
Ouch! My brain hurts!
Hi ! The First Image is a Real Brain Teaser. It looks like rotating in anti-clockwise direction. Great and thanks for sharing.
Hi Dottie, uhhhh, ahhhhh, I think my brain is doing summersaults now and it's getting dizzy and I still can't see! LOL Shake head, let's do it again! I'm not giving up! LOL
Nope..sigh..ok ok I will give up now. Will come back again! I had fun! :) Thanks
Great hub! I really like the optical illusions; especially the ones that use positive and negative space. However, I can never get the 3D ones. I remember going to the mall, and there was this one where you were supposed to see a boat. I just kept staring at it and nothing! lol I just tried the 3D link above and still nothing.
Maybe I just don't have the patience for it. Wonder if something like this can also be used as a Zen type mental exercise to get someone into a meditative/relaxed state.
very cool
I did my brain exercise ;-) Thanks, Carol
Going off-topic a bit, I have a child and he seems to excel in all his schoolwork. She's like 3 yet she can now comprehend like a 5 year old. I saw an excellent article on how to detect giftedness in children here : http://www.pichi-pichi.org/society/home-and-family
Enjoy
Dottie,
I love brain teasers! Good way to stimulate the mind. I am definitely one of those people that can get quite upset and impatient if I can't figure one out after a while!
Fair cop lol
;)
I love these things... they are a great distraction from work! I still couldn't get the magic eye, though, even though I can do it in when it's on paper :)
Fun hub! I like stereograms best. They're fun brain teasers! Did you know that photoreading is kind of based on the whole stereogram thing? Your eyes have to cross just like they do when looking at a stereogram (or you can just back away from them.)
ProCW
PS. I wonder if ebay or amazon sells the photoreading stuff... :) Again, fun hub!
Dottie: Of all the hubbers you are my fave. Not only are you a gorgeous lady, but one with a brain and a half. I wish could just own half of your brain! BTW...Shirley Anderson is much better looking and fresher than Pam--whom I think suffers from way too much exposure to both the stars and the opaque--Anderson.
Dottie, is that spiral at the top of the page supposed to spin or something? I've been staring at it for ten minutes and nothing is happening. Hmmm, maybe I'm already too smart for it. Yup, probably. :)
Dottie, I have such an astounding imagination! Really!!
Ok, i have to go now as Pamala Anderson has just popped round:D
PS..Thanks for the titbits:)
Dottie,Anything to stimulate the brain is always good! and i know someone that actually thinks they are getting smarter by playing the Sudoku games! and i think it could be true! but im not telling them!! lol
ps...They also say the brain is the biggest sexual organ:)
I love Magic Eye, but still have a hard time deciphering. But I love brain teaser games and stuff, really keeps us focused. Thanks.

"Nice Hub"
I think ur absolutly right my brain liked ur hub ;-) and I clicked on the links
Wow, a really great hub. Thanks for all these links!
Escher was a mathematician who created many of these eye illusions etc.
Great HUB
regards Zsuzsy
I was refering to Magic Eye designs in general. The rest is not a problem :)
That would be *cross* my eyes not close. The reason why I afailed would be fairly obvious otherwise!
No, no. I see something. It does become three dimensional. I just can't figure out what it is!
I think im seeing it in reverse because I inadvertently close my eyes.
Gah I'm terrible, never got the hang of the magic eye series.
But to illusions and the rest, I think I'm an addict, I delve through the stuff with a passion.
Great Hub!
