Ventriloquist Terry Fator and His Wonderful World of MakeBelieve
68
This is a true story of a little boy who knew how to make believe. He never gave up on himself or on his wonderful world of imagination and dreams. It may have taken Terry Fator years to win his audience but he eventually captured the hearts of judges and millions of Americans who voted him to victory as the million dollar winner on ‘America’s Got Talent’ on NBC in 2007.
The following video is Terry Fator with his side-kick Winston the Turtle doing an impersonation of Kermit the Frog singing Louis Armstrong - "What a Wonderful World". This class act captured my heart a year ago when I received this video from a friend through email. I've kept it with my favorites until now. Watch and see if this comedy act will steal your heart and leave you breathless!
Prior to America's Got Talent, Terry Fator, a vocal impressionist, an amazing singer and ventriloguist, a comedian, and a world class impersonator, took the stage in Theatres with top performers like Reba McEntire, Garth Brooks, Neal McCoy, Styx plus has performed for some of the largest Corporations including General Motors, Midas Muffler, AT&T, and has performed for both President Clinton and Bush.
The Mirage Las Vegas
After America's Got Talent, in May of 2008, it was announced that Terry Fator had signed a five year deal to perform nightly at the Mirage in Las Vegas. The theatre Fator will perform in has been renamed 'the Terry Fator Theatre' to replace Danny Gans. He will perform five shows a week in the 1,265 seat theatre. The entire deal is worth over $200 million and is one of the largest entertainment deals in Las Vegas history. Fator, along with his cast of puppets, will be performing their first act at the Mirage on Valentine's Day, February 14, 2009.
The Early Years of Terry Fator
Ventriloquist Terry Fator got his start in the fifth grade when he chose a book titled ‘Ventriloquism for Fun and Profit’, by Paul Winchell to do research for his Valentine Day assignment. Fator used the book to learn ventriloquism and a few weeks later bought his first Willie Talk dummy from Sears at the age of 10. He continued to save his money and bought his first professional ventriloquism dummy when he turned eighteen.
Fator said that one of the reasons why he learned how to sing as a ventriloquist was because he loved to sing in his car. He would see other people singing in their cars and thought they looked rather goofy and so as the story goes Fator would learn to sing without moving his lips.
The Legend Walter T. Airedale Singing Garth Brook's Friends in Low Places
Some Character Names of Terry Fator's Puppets
Walter T. Airedale - Also known as Airedale is a country singer and is the puppet that Fator has had the longest.
Emma Taylor singing Etta James's 'At Last'
Emma Taylor - Emma is a real cute lady and is Terry Fator's best puppet friend. She sang with him on America's Got Talent.
Johnny Vegas singing Dean Martin's That's Amore
Johnny Vegas - Johnny is a lounge singer often impersonating Dean Martin and Tony Bennett, etc.
Terry Fator, he's no dummy! He has said that he feels like the poster boy of the American dream. An unbelievable dream come true! And I think to myself What a Wonderful World!

Very nice and interesting Hub showcasing Terry Fator Dottie!
I am so amazed at the talent of ventriloquists. :-) I've always wondered how they do that. Well, I make my puppets talk when I give off little shows for the kids in school but it is very obvious that I'm speaking since my mouth is mouthing the words :-) LOL The kids don't seem to mind. Thank you for sharing this Angel Dottie. It brings me into a realization: hey, this is one thing I would like to learn to do, you know, just for the fun of it :-)
Dottie: I love this, there is a burst of introducing talented perfomers in hubpages. Just read Dayzeebee's hub on the little girl who sings with a passion. Thanks for introducing me to this talented guy. I remember as a little girl, my older sister and I would pretend to be ventriloquists, and in my imagination, I thought I was doing a great job. LOL!
Hi Dottie!
It's amazing, just before I clicked on the link to this hub, I was humming "when the shark bites", and I was sounding like Louis Armstrong!
Ventroloquism is the only profession which pays you to "talk" and keep your mouth shut at the same time. LOL!
Hi Dottie, hahahah enjoyed this hub. I love acts that have a twist and Terry does that perfectly. What a combination of talent and skills. Well, he deserves that Vegas deal all right! Thanks for an informative and enjoyable hub. Hey aren't you suppose to be sleeping at this time? LOL. Rest well, Angel Dottie.:)
I have seen him a couple of times on videos and TV. He really is something! Thanks! :)
OMG..... I Know he is just wonderful...I too love to watch him and sure wish I could go to the show on Valentine's Day....he is so good but there is also another one...I can't think of his name right now (of course)...he doesn't sing like other singers but he is soo good...darn when I remember I will come back and tell you..If you are into these things you probably know who I am talking about.
I went back and watched each one that was on here...It was so much fun...Thanks sweetie so much I loved every second of it...again...G-Ma :O) Hugs & Peace
There's just something about a ventriloquist - don't know what it is - maybe we (secretly) think the dummy is really alive.
Thank you for introducing me to someone I did not know.
